Get It Done

Every second counts, so let’s get right to it. 1 idea, 2 ways it saves you time, and 3 steps to Get It Done:
Reset your focus between tasks so your brain can move cleanly into the next activity.
1. Speeds up completion of your next task. Your brain carries “residue” from the task you just finished. Without a reset, this slows your thinking and drags old thoughts into the next task.
2. Smooth transitions prevent mental friction. This helps you prevent wasting time getting distracted between tasks.
1. When a task ends, close the tab, document, or window so your brain knows it is complete.
2. Take one slow inhale and one slow exhale, then look away from your screen to break the mental loop.
3. Say the next task out loud or write it once, then start immediately while your mind is clear.
A smooth mental transition is one of the most underrated productivity skills. A single minute is enough to reset your brain and move into your next task with clarity and speed.
“My day is too chaotic, I do not have clear task boundaries”
That is exactly when this helps the most. A one minute reset gives your brain a clean slate even in a messy schedule. You cannot control every interruption, but you can control how you switch back into the next task.
As promised — 1 minute that can save you hours

P.S. Fun fact, Researchers have discovered that naming your next task out loud activates brain regions linked to goal direction, which increases the chance that you start that task quickly and stay on track.
