1-2-3 Get It Done: The “Notification Purge” That Saves You 100+ Clicks a Day

sent by Joaquín Kosegarten | October 21, 2025

Every second counts, so let’s get right to it. 1 idea, 2 ways it saves you time, and 3 steps to Get It Done:

1 Idea

Turn off non-essential notifications (most of them) to stop mindless checking and stay in charge of your attention.

2 Ways it saves you time

1. Helps you stay in the zone – Every ping costs more than a few seconds. It can take 5–20 minutes to get back into deep work.

2. Puts you in charge – When your phone isn’t calling the shots, you get to choose what matters most.

3 Steps to Get It Done:

1. Go to Settings → Notifications – Mute or disable alerts for any app that isn’t mission critical (socials, promos, random news).

2. Turn off lock screen and banner alerts – Even if you keep badges on, removing visual pop-ups cuts 90% of distractions.

3. Batch-check what matters – Schedule 2–3 times per day to check emails and messages on your terms.

Conclusion

Notifications aren’t helpful reminders. They’re traps.
A 5-minute purge today can save you from 100+ mindless taps tomorrow.

“But what if I miss something urgent?”

You won’t. Real emergencies come through phone calls. Everything else can wait a couple of hours.

As promised — 1 minute that can save you hours
