1-2-3: The “Desk Reset” That Instantly Reboots Your Focus

sent by Joaquín Kosegarten | September 16, 2025

Every second counts, so let’s get right to it. 1 idea, 2 ways it saves you time, and 3 steps to Get It Done:

1 Idea

Do a quick desk reset before starting deep work — clearing your space helps clear your mind.

2 Ways it saves you time

1. Reduces hidden distractions – Visual clutter = mental clutter. A quick tidy cuts the background noise and helps you stay focused.

2. Helps you focus faster – The reset signals your brain: new task, clean slate, full focus.

3 Steps to Get It Done:

1. Clear what doesn’t belong – Remove yesterday’s mug, random post-its, and anything not related to the task at hand.

2. Wipe the surface (literally) – Physically cleaning your desk triggers a subtle sense of control and clarity.

3. Add a focus cue – Light a candle, place your most important task front and center, or open only the needed doc or tab. One small gesture to say, “Let’s go.”

Conclusion

Your desk is your cockpit. Reset it like a pilot before takeoff, and your brain will fly faster and smoother every time.

“But I work fine in a bit of chaos”

Maybe. But even 10% more focus from a 60-second reset adds up fast.

Try it for a week and let your output do the talking.

As promised — 1 minute that can save you hours
